Critter Sitters was created over 16 years ago and had it's humble beginnings in the basement of our home. For 3 years, we took in dogs, cats, pet rats, ferrets, and rabbits, into our home for vacationing owners. We had a young family ourselves in those days and our sons grew up surrounded by all these critters.
At times it could be very stressfull, enduring the barking of some of the dogs and taking all the dogs for walks 4 times daily regardless of weather.
We were also busy with our small dairy goat herd but decided to turn our goat facilities into a Pet Hotel after 3 years of running the Pet Boarding from our home.
Eventually all of our farmyard critters were replaced by expanding facilities for Dogs and Cats. We have often been heard to remark that "our place has gone to the dogs"!
We've renovated and added to our facilities a few times, but few years ago, we made the decision to downsize a bit. Our sons have grown and moved on and the workload was too much for mainly one person. We dismantled a few kennels and created a cozy indoor play area with a TV, DVD player, couch, and many toys.
We call it the doggie family room. This room is quite useful on very cold or stormy days when it's impossible to play outside.
We also have critters of our own, 4 dogs...Lucky, Bobo, Joey & Sirius. 3 horses...Starr, Tiny Tim & little Willow and last but not least....5 lovely barn cats. My husband Robert and I (Marilyn) have lived here for almost 30 years and raised our two sons on our little 3 acre spread.
